ATIS Applauds NTIA’s International Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security
WASHINGTON, July 29, 2026 — The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) applauds the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) launch of the International Call to Action for 6G Leadership and Security, a commitment signed by nearly two dozen allied and partner nations to advance open, interoperable, secure and resilient 6G networks.
NTIA unveils the Call to Action at a launch event hosted this morning by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC. It commits signatory governments to a shared set of principles for 6G, including secure supply chains, coordinated spectrum planning and continued reliance on industry-led global standards bodies.
ATIS issued its own Call to Action in May 2020, urging the U.S. government to partner with industry on research funding, standards participation and a national spectrum strategy to secure U.S. leadership in 6G. That effort led to the formation of the Next G Alliance, the ATIS-led initiative that has since published more than 40 technical whitepapers on 6G security, spectrum, network architecture and other key elements critical to 6G’s success. NTIA is an active member of the Next G Alliance.
“Six years ago, ATIS called on government and industry to come together around 6G leadership,” said Susan M. Miller, President and CEO of ATIS. “NTIA’s Call to Action builds on that vision and foundation and extends it to our allies. We’re proud of the work our members have done to advance the vision of the Next G Alliance, and we look forward to supporting NTIA and its partner nations as this effort moves forward.”
