ATIS Achieves a Milestone in Fostering a More Vibrant U.S. and Allied Supplier ICT Ecosystem with the Transposition of O-RAN ALLIANCE Specifications to ATIS Standards

ATIS and the O-RAN ALLIANCE today announced the successful completion of the transposition of an initial set of O-RAN ALLIANCE specifications into ATIS standards.

This milestone represents a significant step toward advancing the adoption of Open RAN in North America by enabling the recognition of O-RAN ALLIANCE specifications by ATIS, an accredited solutions development organization with broad participation from the North American industry.

The collaboration advances the shared objectives of both organizations to promote more intelligent, open, virtualized, and globally standards-compliant mobile networks.

“The transposition of this initial set of specifications is a major step in fostering a more vibrant U.S. and allied supplier ecosystem,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan Miller. “ATIS members and the broader information and communications technology industry will benefit from this important work.”

“The adoption of O-RAN specifications by a growing number of standards development organizations underscores the global importance of open and intelligent RAN networks in accelerating innovation, fostering healthy competition, and enabling more sustainable and resilient telecom ecosystems,” said Thomas Lips, Chair of the Board of the O-RAN ALLIANCE and SVP, RAN Disaggregation & Enablement at Deutsche Telekom. “ATIS’s recognition of O-RAN ALLIANCE specifications is an important step, reinforcing industry alignment around open interfaces and collaborative innovation.”

Building on the successful transposition of this initial set of critical O-RAN specifications, ATIS and the O-RAN ALLIANCE plan to transpose additional specifications multiple times each year. Through this initial effort, the organizations refined their joint consensus process for final review and publication as ATIS standards – streamlining future transpositions and accelerating progress going forward.
