ATIS Next G Alliance and XG Mobile Promotion Forum Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Advance the Global 5G and 6G Ecosystem

ATIS Next G Alliance and XG Mobile Promotion Forum Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Advance the Global 5G and 6G Ecosystem

ATIS’ Next G Alliance (NGA) and Japan’s XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on building a global ecosystem for 5G and 6G.

Launched by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), the Next G Alliance leads efforts to research, develop, and commercialize 6G, aiming to advance North American wireless leadership through private sector innovation. XGMF supports the expansion of mobile services and the growth of the mobile business sector in Japan.

The MoU, signed by ATIS Next G Alliance Managing Director Jaydee Griffith and Akihiro Nakao, Co-Chairman of XG Mobile Promotion Forum (XGMF), updates a pre-existing MoU with XMGF’s predecessor (Beyond 5G Promotion Consortium) and establishes a framework for strategic cooperation. It focuses on maximizing synergies between the two organizations and exploring the potential applications of beyond 5G and 6G technologies in industrial communications. Planned activities include joint marketing and promotional initiatives, as well as the exchange of information and publications.

“This agreement advances both parties’ goals in bringing the innovation of the 6G future to fruition sooner and more efficiently,” said ATIS Next G Alliance Managing Director Jaydee Griffith. “It is one of several that ATIS has forged with global 6G-focused organizations to support mutual strategic priorities and enable global economies of scale in the future 6G mobile wireless ecosystem.”

“Through this agreement, we aim to realize innovations that will maximize the potential of 5G and 6G,” said Akihiro Nakao, Co-Chair of XG Mobile Promotion Forum. Building on lessons from prior generations, it is essential that 6G focuses on technologies that offer real value and commercial viability. Together with the Next G Alliance, we look forward to fostering a globally aligned and sustainable mobile ecosystem.”
