The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS) is pleased to support Doreen Bogdan-Martin’s candidacy to become the next Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In 2018, Director Bogdan-Martin became the first woman to hold one of the five ITU leadership positions when she was elected to her current role as Director of the ITU’s Bureau of Telecommunication Development (BDT). She joined the ITU in 1994, where she led the organization’s policy and regulatory reforms program. She began her career as a telecommunications policy specialist at the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunication and Information Administration (NTIA).
“ATIS proudly supports the historic candidacy of Doreen Bogdan-Martin to become the next Secretary-General of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU),” said ATIS President and CEO, Susan Miller. “Her record of accomplishments as Director of the ITU’s Bureau of Telecommunications Development and her nearly three decades of commitment to supporting communications connectivity make her preeminently qualified to lead the ITU in its role supporting efforts to deploy advanced communications technologies around the world.”
Bogdan-Martin would be the first American to lead the ITU in more than 50 years.
