This report evaluates the cryptographic mechanisms employed across 3GPP’s 5G network domains, conducting a comprehensive risk assessment to identify vulnerabilities posed by emerging quantum computing threats. It presents a phased set of recommendations for 3GPP standardization efforts, aiming to transition towards quantum-resistant cryptography. By proactively addressing these challenges, the report seeks to ensure the long-term security and resilience of 5G infrastructures against both current and future cyber threats in the quantum computing era.
