ATIS Advances Industry Cybersecurity and Network Resilience Imperatives in Zero Trust Architecture

ATIS today announced the publication of “Enhanced 5G and Zero Trust Cloud and Operational Security Aspects “ (eZT5G). This new resource reinforces ATIS’ leadership in cybersecurity and network resilience by examining the implementation and operationalization of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) within 5G cloud environments.

Zero Trust is a security paradigm based on the principle that no digital system or user—whether internal or external—should be inherently trusted. Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) offers a comprehensive framework for applying this approach across complex digital ecosystems.

As 5G network operators increasingly adopt cloud-native and virtualized platforms, the eZT5G white paper explores the application of ZTA across four distinct cloud deployment models. It also incorporates insights from emerging threat models—including MITRE’s FiGHT and GSMA’s MOTIF—to demonstrate how these frameworks can address existing security gaps and strengthen risk mitigation strategies.

“This work reinforces ATIS’ commitment to advancing secure, interoperable, and standards-aligned approaches as the industry evolves toward 6G,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan Miller. “Consistent with ATIS’ collaborative model, this study involved contributions from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and leading experts across the 5G security ecosystem.”
