Media Advisory: ATIS Provides 5G Update at RAN USA-the Event Addressing Carriers’ Real-World Radio Access Challenges

WASHINGTON — Dec. 18, 2016 —

What: ATIS Senior Technology Consultant Jim McEachern provides insight into the 5G future with the ATIS 5G Update, an overview of the contributions of ATIS’ 5G Initiative at RAN USA. At RAN USA, the leading carriers take the stage to discuss their RAN challenges and visions for the future. The event deals with developments in today’s network, while preparing all stakeholders — be it CTOs, senior engineers, technology strategists, vendors or analysts-for tomorrow’s challenges.

When and Where: The ATIS 5G Update will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016, 10:15 – 10:45 a.m. at RAN USA, in San Francisco, CA. In addition to the ATIS 5G Update, McEachern also participates in Working Group 1: 5G on January 27, at 4:00 p.m. This Working Group is being led by 4GAmericas.
Background:  ATIS is where the ICT industry has come together to assess 5G North American market requirements focusing on two key areas: Evolution of 4G/LTE to 5G and North American Regulatory Requirements. ATIS also explored the 5G environment from a “disruptive” perspective, seeking solutions not constrained by existing service requirements or architecture, with an analysis of new business models and user experience. These complementary activities provide a compelling North American assessment of 5G. ATIS’ findings are detailed in its 5G Reimagined white paper, which documents the use cases and high-level network and architecture aspects such as “mobility on demand,” “enhanced security,” and interoperability with previous generations of Radio Access Technology. McEachern’s RAN USA presentation will provide an overview of the ATIS analysis, conclusions and next steps.
ATIS is an Association Partner of RAN USA.
