ATIS today announced release of two new standards advancing the industry’s illegal robocalling mitigation goals in non-IP (i.e., TDM) networks. The ATIS Non-IP Call Authentication Task Force (NIPCA-TF) will continue its work with a Technical Report that examines the viability of operationalizing these standards and hybrid scenarios where non-IP call authentication standards coexist with the SHAKEN solution in IP networks. For example, the Non-IP call authentication specification for transiting authentication may not be ubiquitously operationalized and further consideration of assumptions and scenarios related to security is warranted.
”With these two new standards and forthcoming NIPCA work, ATIS is extending the leadership it has provided in the next step for development of SHAKEN to face the challenges of TDM networks,” said ATIS President and CEO Susan Miller. “Through the NIPCA-TF, industry will continue to identify and address additional issues in this area to enhance interoperability and deploy ability – and improve viability of the authentication standards for calls that traverse TDM networks.”
Companies with an interest in non-IP call authentication should consider joining the NIPCA-TF. Please contact ATIS’ Rich Moran to join.
